Schweisstreibende Nächte im Club und sonnendurchflutete Morgenstunden...
„Musik = Die gemeinsame Sprache der Menschheit“, sagte eins der amerikanische Dichter Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Es gibt weitere Zitate die versuchen Musik zu erklären. Und sie alle treffen sicher zu. Musik verstehen kann man aber nur indem man sie hört. Musik wird erschaffen um gehört zu werden. Und deshalb muss ich hier schreiben: „Happy Anniversary, Acryl Music!“

Nach dem Start im Jahr 2004 steht mit ‘Need For Faith’ von Labelgründer Da Funk die 50. Veröffentlichung in den Startlöchern. Mit dabei im saftigen Release-Paket: Remixe von Si Brad, Pete Moss, Elmar Schubert und Q-Burns Abstract Message.

Wow, was für ein Release! Ein Stelldichein der alten House-Hasen und Helden der Jugend (im Anschluss an die Teeny-Jahre). Produzenten, die auf damals grossen Labels wie Naked Music oder Dessous Recordings veröffentlichten. Da huscht einem ein Lächeln über das Gesicht, wenn man den Werdegang von Acryl Music von Anfang an mitverfolgt hat!

Angetrieben durch eine kickende Bassdrum und einer dicken anaologen Basslinie entwickelt sich ‘Need For Faith’ von Da Funk zu einem hypnotischen Tanzflur-Torpedo. Sphärische Flächen, verträumte Synth’s und Chords und leicht düstere Effekt-Spielereien runden das Klanggebilde ab.

Nun könnte man hier zu jedem Remix detailliert etwas schreiben. Das würde den Rahmen aber ein wenig sprengen. Deshalb nur kurz etwas zu den Remixern:

Simon Bradshaw (Toko Records, Paper Recordings, Naked Music) – wohl bekannter unter seinen Aliases Si Brad, Attaboy oder Weekender-, Pete Moss (Recline Records, Ovum Records, Dessous Recordings), Elmar Schubert (Freerange Records, Naked Music) und Q-Burns Abstract Message (Eighth Dimension Records, Astralwerks, NRK).

Weil es bei dieser Auswahl schwierig ist die Stücke zu beschreiben, lass ich es besser. Aber meinen Lieblings-Remix von ‘Need For Faith’ kann ich noch nennen und zum Hören einladen: derjenige von Elmar Schubert.

And another rework here. at first hand i wanted to just edit this track here (which is in fact one of my all time favourite tech house choons from 1995) so i could play it out again. it then ended up beeing more a remix than an edit.

The track's original tempo was 142 bpm's which is extremely fast especially in the current age of slo-mo house. so the first thing to do was to reduce the tempo to 125 bpm's, a pretty usual tempo for tech house tracks.

I've chopped two 8 bar loops from the original and fired them up on propellerhead's record with it's uber great timestretch algorhythm. i then programmed drums, percussions, a crazy vocal for the break, some fx and layed out the arrangement.

Finally the whole thing had to be mastered with a gentle setting and et voilà, remix finished.

Here's my "Remote Kiss" remix from Robert Babicz. Loved the original already and made this mainly for me to play out. But since i liked the outcome so much, here it is for you to love or hate on!

De entrega house atolondrado diria yo, se puede catalogar este tema original que nos presenta en esta serie regular que saca al mercado el próximo més de Marzo, y que sobre todo suena a house descontrolado con vocales y que busca la pista con poco orden y sobrecargando los sonidos en todos sus rangos.  Problema al que se le une el track  original del mismo productor que cierra el ep.

Asunto aparte es el remix del suizo Da Funk, que transformando por completo el tema y respetando alguna de las frecuencias como el vocal femenino alcanza a conectar con un house de tintes progresivos y atmosféricos que suena creible y contundente.

Una producción que mejora exponencialmente al original y se puede decir que salva el ep sin duda alguna. Sonido grueso y envolvente que se apodera del escuchante con una producción y sintesis muy interesante.

El remix de Pete Dafeet (Lost my Dog), se queda a medio camino entre ambos, dejando una sensación de deslabazamiento en su producción que no consigue mejorar con una métrica correcta y un sonido eficiente.

“Shake That Thing” ist schon mal eine Ansage. Der langsam immer tiefer rubbelnde Groove auch, aber dann werden die Hintergrundsamples immer intensiver und man hat fast das Gefühl, dass hier jemand einen Technotrack in einem Housegroove zu verstecken sucht.

Brüllende Basslines, schnittige Sequenzen, purer Workout. Der Pablo Fierro Dub macht das einiges smoother, verliert aber in den wohlklingenden Synths manchmal die Übersicht, und die beiden anderen Mixe braucht es nicht.

Suisse, 1991. La musique électronique rassemble ses fans. Aux premières loges se trouve Da Funk, qui participe à quelques événements mais qui en peu de temps tombe amoureux de la musique. Il vibre au rythmes des grosses soirées mais le rythme de l’auditeur lui fait prendre conscience qu’il n’est pas au paroxysme de son amour pour la musique.

Possédé par la musique, le jeune homme va alors commencer à mixer. Première grosse soirée en 1996 à Zurich, d’autres suivront peu après.
Suite à une soirée sur une île espagnole en 1997, une pause s’est alors fait sentir dans la tête du jeune homme. Non-content de passer des morceaux, Da Funk a compris qu’il aimait beaucoup la house, et s’est donc naturellement redirigé.

N’étant pas casanier, Da Funk s’investit alors dans la production. Il crée son studio et s’adonne enfin à une nouvelle approche du son.
En 2004 arrive Acryl Music, son label, là où il révèle sa definition de la house: un mélange entre deep, tech, avant-gardiste et innovante. Son empreinte musicale réside cependant dans les mélodies, très caractéristiques de son style.

To start off, heavy kicks, echoing vocal snippets, and groovy bass-work get the job done, as the dark chord stabs bring the track to a whole new deep dimension. Various Artists-Remixes Part1 | Disclosure Project Recordings

Kewl Sownd in the Da Funk remix is from that level you can't resist it's sound. The destructive base line will not miss it's purpose, adding atmosphere to a room and filling bodies with its sonic spectrum. This the kind of tracks you like to put on, as it's friendly for the ears and yet, effective for the floor. There's a nice hynotic vibe around without being mind hammering.

M-Lito & Nestora-Flying Over is quality deep house, filled with gently floating strings and little plucky synth sounds as a counter weight for the almost unnoticeable base line.

Do My-Mr. Jones 2010 remix resides in the deep house territory but has a tight rhythm and kick, suitable for those warm up sets or late,late night sets.
What I find remarkable in all Disclosure Project Recordings is the light-hearted atmosphere in their tracks, it keeps the songs fresh and leaves room for the separate sounds the tracks are build up with, to breath. And yet, the songs are complete. The secret of the good producer?
